The Engineers Trust
At this time of year, a time of giving, it seems appropriate the note that the collection during the Carol Service* at the Tower of London raised £1400 for the Engineers Trust. If you were unable to attend or would like to make an additional donation, please use this link to donate via JustGiving: The Engineers Trust – JustGiving
For those who may have missed it, or wish to watch it again, the video of Past Master and Chair of Trustees Professor Gordon Masterton’s Soiree lecture on “The Engineers Trust: Past, Present and Future” is now available of the Company’s You Tube channel:
The Engineers Trust Past, Present and Future
NOTE – In the talk, Gordon mentioned that he didn’t know why the Organ Fund of St Katharine Cree Church was an early beneficiary. Past Master, the late Ray Cousins, and Ruth, had answered Gordon in the chat that St Katharine Kree was the Company’s first church, the Rector being our first Chaplain. The company held their Carol Services there for several years. Trevor Crocker may have played the organ on those occasions.
We will miss Ray in many ways.

The Engineers Trust 50th Anniversary Appeal
The Engineers Trust is the charitable arm of the Worshipful Company of Engineers. For forty years the Trust has been delivering its objectives in line with the founding Trustees wishes to:
- Promote and encourage excellence in engineering
- Support engineering education and research, and
- The relief of poverty and hardship through engineering
The Trust achieves these objectives by giving annual awards and prizes to engineers or aspiring engineers.
The Trust is 40 years old this year and wishes to use this milestone to begin to prepare for the 50th Anniversary of the Company and the Trust in 2033 and 2034. But to create meaningful and impactful initiatives to mark that momentous event, more funds will be required.
The Trust receives funds through two primary channels: regular giving and legacies. These are managed in our investment portfolio, but we also fulfil our charitable objects each year by giving as much as we can, so the overall growth in our available funds is always likely to be modest.
Our Founders recognised the potential of the Company and its Trust to be a major force for the good of engineering and had an ambitious vision. We aim to advance our impact significantly by our 50th Year by increasing our financial base.
The Carol Service Collection has traditionally given a welcome boost to the funds. This year, we will designate 50% of donations for the 50th Anniversary Appeal.
We would respectfully like this to be additional to your customary Carol Service donation if you are able to do so.
Thank you for your generosity in this season of goodwill,
Gordon Masterton
