Anna Wilson, Anglian Water

Anna is on the Environmental Graduate Leadership Trainee scheme with Anglian Water, having joined in September 2023. So far, Anna’s placements throughout the company have focused on environmental prosperity and compliance. She is currently working within the Strategic Asset Planning space, with a focus on the Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan, and Long Term Delivery Strategy. She has a strong passion for Early Careers development and retention in the water industry, having planned events and secured placement opportunities for others across Anglian Water, and other international companies.

Anna holds excellent stage presence and captivates the room with her engaging presentation style. Her talk on the strategic partnership “Future Fens: Integrated Adaptation (FFIA)” illustrated how the water industry can stetch themselves to make new, positive environmental changes. It showed how the project works with over 70 diverse organisations to deliver resilience and adaptation to our changing climate in a vulnerable landscape, whilst engaging with our short-term needs, and embracing the long-term challenges of climate change. Anna has represented Anglian Water and FFIA at a number of events, helping to build partnership initiatives across the region. The presentation has also been showcased elsewhere, including to some international partners who are aspiring to drive forward environmental performance and stretch the boundaries of how a water company can serve its’ customers and region.

The Water Engineering award is made jointly with the International Water Association (IWA) normally for the best paper presentation at the annual IWA UK Young Water Professionals Conference.
