Lily Gregory demonstrated the attributes of a future leader in her written submission, university citation and her positive, engaging and articulate interview. She has embraced a wide range of opportunities and encourages the same in others. Completing her final year of a BEng programme in General Engineering at Kings College London, Lily is predicted to achieve a 1st Class Degree following specialisation in computational design, future automotive technology and energy systems. She will graduate with a wide breadth of knowledge across key engineering systems and technologies.
President of King’s College London Women In STEM, Lily has led a core team of 20 to deliver Impactful and sustainable initiatives that support students and young professional in engineering and the broader STEM community. She will be moving to Manchester on graduation to take up a Graduate Design Manager role within the construction arm of Kier Group.
The panel was unanimous in recommending Lily as the winner of the Cadzow Smith Engineering Award for 2025 but also Highly Commend

for the impactful way they are both influencing and changing the engineering world around them both domestically and internationally.
Established in 1996, the Cadzow Smith Engineering Awards were endowed by Eastern Group plc in recognition of the outstanding services to engineering of its former Chairman, the late Dr James C Smith CBE FREng FRSE, a Past Master Engineer. The Award is for excellence on an accredited undergraduate engineering course conducted at one of eleven universities within London and the Home Counties. Besides academic excellence, the recipients of the Awards must have demonstrated self-confidence, professional awareness, leadership and sound common sense.
The Worshipful Company of Engineers Charitable Trust (the Engineers Trust) acknowledges excellence in engineering, supports engineering education and research, gives grants and assists in the relief of hardship and poverty.
